India successfully launched chandrayan – 2
India’s Geosynchronous Satellite Launch Vehicle GSLV MkIII-M1, successfully launched the 3840 kg Chandrayaan-2 spacecraft into an earth orbit on July 22, 2019 from the spaceport of Sriharikota. Actually it was planned to launch on july 15, 2019 but it was aborted due to technical snag.
Chandrayaan-2 is India's second mission to the moon. It comprises Orbiter, Lander (Vikram) and Rover (Pragyan).
The primary objective of Chandrayaan-2 is to demonstrate end-to-end lunar mission capability, including soft-landing and roving on the lunar surface. Scientific goals include studies of lunar topography, mineralogy, elemental abundance, the lunar exosphere, and better understanding of the origin and evolution of the lunar(Moon).
Now successfully launched Chandrayaan-2 is a significant milestone in this challenging mission. A total number of 7500 visitors witnessed the launch live from the Viewer’s Gallery at Sriharikota said by ISRO (Indian Space Research Organisation).
A day after launching the country's second moon mission, the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) on Tuesday said the Chandrayaan-2 spacecraft is in "good health" and moving in the "right direction"."The Chandrayaan-2 is in good health. There is no doubt about it. It is moving in the right direction," an official of the Bengaluru-headquartered ISRO told PTI.
